I buy a suit to drink…

On March 10, 2011 by Blair Peyton

My friend Krystal invited me to the local ADDY awards (best in advertising/promotion). My first inclination was a simple ”nah”, but when the term “open bar” was used, of course I’m in. Once I had accepted, Krystal’s follow-up question was, “You have a suit, right?”… to which I responded, “I have suit parts”… The only “suit” I have is khaki annnddd I’m thinking that wouldn’t be the best fit for an event like this.

You see I work in radio and I’m essentially at the radio station all by my lonesome, needless to say, I’m very casual… one time I wore pajama bottoms, jealous? So I made my other friend Roxy go shopping with me for a suit and we ended up at Express… and shit they were expensive! I started thinking, “I’m spending an awful lot to make an ass of my self in front of mostly strangers”. Then again it would be nice to have a current/better-looking suit that I haven’t had for 8 years and last wore to a wedding 6 years ago.

Roxy, my personal stylist for that hour of shopping, taught me something very interesting. When wearing a nice suit, you shouldn’t need a belt; b/c it should fit… who knew?! I do believe her years at Victoria’s Secret is finally paying off. So I got the suit, not even factoring in shoes. I had shoes that I thought, key word “thought”, would be appropriate. Not so. When dressing nicely, your shoes shouldn’t lace up, huh… another nugget for the future…

In conclusion, I bought a suit to drink for free… this doesn’t make me a Charlie Sheen or a diet Charlie Sheen type, does it?

  • Bahaha. Nice. I think my favorite quote of the night was when you said, “everyone’s laughing at my shoes,” and I responded, “Blair…I just sat in a plant holder.”
I would also like to note that no one would’ve noticed your shoes, except Alexa, if you hadn’t been putting your shoes in everyone’s faces asking them if they were the right shoes.
Haha. So glad you could make it!!

  • I need approval to survive Taryn ;)
